Different from a machine that won't turn on at all โ€” this is a machine that powers up, the pump runs, but the water never actually gets hot. This points to the heating element or its safety fuse.

01Insufficient warm-up time

Rule out the obvious first: the Classic Pro genuinely needs real warm-up time (often cited as at least 20 minutes for full temperature stability), not just until the ready light comes on. If you're testing too early, you may be seeing normal behavior rather than a fault.

02Blown thermal fuse

If the machine has been fully warmed up and water is still not heating, the boiler's thermal safety fuse has very likely blown โ€” usually a downstream consequence of scale buildup causing the element to overheat previously. This requires opening the machine to access and replace, per the official service manual.

03Heating element itself has failed

Less common than a blown fuse, but possible after many years of use. This requires the same disassembly as fuse replacement to inspect, and is a good point to weigh repair cost against machine age.

Prevention matters here This failure mode traces back to scale buildup far more often than random component failure. Staying on top of descaling (see our descaling guide) is the best way to avoid needing this repair again.
