Unlike the numbered error codes, a machine that just dispenses a few drops without showing any error is usually a maintenance issue rather than a mechanical fault.

01Descaling overdue

Scale buildup restricting internal water flow is one of the most common causes of a weak or near-absent pour on super-automatics. If you've postponed descaling a few times, this is the first thing to address โ€” only use the Philips/Saeco branded descaler, and let the full descaling procedure run to completion without switching the machine off partway.

If descaling gets interrupted A power failure or accidental disconnection mid-cycle means you'll need to empty and rinse the tank, refill to the CALC CLEAN level, and let the machine perform its automatic rinse before running a full manual rinse and then descaling again from the start.

02Grind set too fine

An overly fine internal grind setting creates more resistance than the fixed brewing pressure can push through in the expected cycle time, producing a slow trickle rather than a normal pour. Adjust the grind coarser using the machine's internal grind adjustment dial.

03Brew group needs cleaning

A brew group with heavy coffee oil buildup restricts flow even without triggering error 03. Remove and rinse it thoroughly under lukewarm water โ€” see our brew group guide for the full process.

04Water filter clogged

If you use an AquaClean or similar filter, a clogged filter restricts overall water flow, not just filtered taste. See our AquaClean troubleshooting guide.
