This is the opposite problem to error 14 — the machine is too cold, typically right after transport or after being stored somewhere unheated, like a garage or a cold car in winter.

01Official fix

Allow time for the machine to adjust from transport or storage temperature to normal room temperature before attempting to use it. This isn't instant — internal components, particularly the boiler and any temperature sensors, need to genuinely equalize with the room, not just feel room-temperature on the outside.

How long to wait A machine that traveled or sat in a cold environment typically needs at least 30 minutes to an hour indoors at normal room temperature before this error clears on its own. A machine that was extremely cold (freezing car in winter) may need longer.

02Why this happens

Internal sensors that monitor temperature for safety and calibration purposes can read out-of-range values when the machine itself is significantly colder than a normal room — the error is the machine correctly recognizing it isn't in a safe state to operate yet, not a fault.

03If it doesn't clear after waiting

If the error persists well after the machine should have reached room temperature (several hours, or overnight), a genuine sensor fault becomes more likely — this is worth raising with Philips' official support.
