Error 05 shows up right after a water tank runs dry, or after a fresh water filter is installed with air still trapped inside. It looks alarming, but it's not a pump failure — it just needs the circuit purged.

01Official fix
- Switch the machine OFF.
- Empty the water tank and remove the AquaClean filter (or any other water filter) if installed.
- Refill the tank with fresh water and reinsert it (without the filter for now).
- Switch the machine back on and let it fully heat up.
- Select hot water and dispense 2-3 cups to purge trapped air from the circuit.
02If you use an AquaClean filter
Follow these extra steps to prepare the filter properly before reinstalling it:
- Shake the AquaClean filter for 5 seconds.
- Hold it upside down in a container of water until no more air bubbles escape.
- Place the prepared filter back into the water tank and refill with water.
- Restart the machine (switch off, then back on).
- Select hot water and dispense 2-3 cups.
The pattern to remember
Error 05 is almost always triggered by one specific event — a dry tank, a new filter, or the tank being removed and refilled. If you can identify which of these just happened, the purge process above resolves it in a couple of minutes.
