The Magnifica runs an automatic priming/rinse cycle on startup to fill its internal water circuit. If it seems to loop or never finish, check these before assuming a fault.

01Water tank not fully seated

The single most common cause. Remove the tank completely, refill it, and push it back in firmly until you feel it lock โ€” a tank that's even slightly out of position prevents the priming cycle from drawing water successfully.

02New water filter not primed

If you've just installed a new water filter cartridge, it needs its own priming step (typically running water through it manually before installing) โ€” an unprimed filter can trap air and prevent the whole system from priming correctly. Check your model's manual for the specific filter priming steps.

03Air trapped in the circuit

If the tank ran completely dry before refilling, trapped air in the lines can cause the priming cycle to loop without success. Try running the hot water/steam dispensing function repeatedly (without coffee) to help work air bubbles out manually.

Quick check Listen for the pump โ€” you should hear it actively trying to draw water. Silence during the priming attempt points to a different issue (often the tank still not seated) rather than an air lock.
If nothing works after several attempts Persistent priming failure despite a correctly seated, full tank and a primed filter can indicate a failed pump or valve, which typically needs professional service โ€” check De'Longhi's official support for authorized service options.
