If the descale indicator stays lit even after running a full cycle, the cycle almost certainly didn't complete all its stages successfully.

01The full cycle wasn't completed

Magnifica descale cycles run in stages โ€” solution dispensing, then multiple rinse stages with plain water. Skipping ahead, turning the machine off early, or not providing the full specified water volume for each stage can leave the internal counter unreset even if descaling solution did flow through.

02Using the wrong descaling solution or wrong dilution

Use De'Longhi's own descaling solution or an equivalent formulated for the purpose, mixed at the exact ratio specified in your model's manual. An incorrect concentration can affect whether the machine's internal logic registers the cycle as valid.

03Water filter needs replacing first

If you use a water filter cartridge, an expired filter can throw off the descale cycle's timing/counter logic on some models. Check whether your filter is due for replacement before re-running the descale cycle.

Try this first Run the complete descale cycle a second time, start to finish, without interruption โ€” this alone resolves the issue in most cases where the first attempt was interrupted or rushed.

04Manual reset sequence

Some Magnifica models have a specific button-hold sequence to manually reset the descale counter after a confirmed successful clean โ€” check your model's manual via De'Longhi's support center, since this sequence varies between sub-models.
